I disagree with the original poster's motives, but I do agree with his end goal. I thought opening up more areas to the public is a good thing. The reason many people weren't very good at them is simply because they had never done them before. These areas should have always been and should remain to be open to the public. Players will improve over time. I'm sick of buying Anet's games only to find out I'm at the mercy of someone I've never met to actually look at half of the content.

That said, I do agree that Anet should change focus. Stop with the double rare weekends and make with the auction houses and other updates of substance that will continually add value to the game.

I think that the weekend events are awesome. They are a way to keep the game hopping. We have had pvp weekends, pve weekends, Now they are doing a farming weekend. Sweet. You know if you don't want to participate in a weekend event, you don't have to. And I'm sure that not all of their resources are going into these weekend events. They are working on other stuff too.

I like the weekend events. It was the first time I got to try the Elite missions. Even managed to pick a couple of Kanaxi's weapons.

Also, my understanding is that, these events do NOT take away from ANet resources devoted to other aspects of the game (e.g. development of a trade system). ANet created an events team whose primary job is to develop and create events.

Ok, really in sense I aggree that these "fun" weekends arent really the thing anet should be focusing on. Really, the more important thing should be keeping their players "in" the game. Most of my guild,(which had 100 members, all good players not noobs") left the game from boredome, and went to play something else.

And frankly, i am deciding on doing the same. Its not that I dont love Guild Wars, its been the best game ive played so far, and ive played quite a few games. But why deny the facts, that really this game has become as stagnant as a turtle racing a hare (not to say WoW is the hare, WoW has bad points as well, jsut as many as guild wars if not more, they are just different.)and frankly I dont want to partake in it anymore, if guild wars doesnt change the game.

I am open to suggestions too, but really I cant find the silver lining. Ive completed all the missions, gotten my FoW armor, got my rank up fairly high, all though i dont see the point of getting like 5k more fame just for an iguana emote or something like that. I have some fairly nice perfect weapons ive added to my collection too. But what now? Well anet, that i believe is your biggest problem. How do you, as a company keep the common idiot like myeself immersed in this world you have created? Well, Im not completely sure, but I defientetly know that double fun weekends wont keep me around.

for all people who are complaing about these events I think your really selfish.

They didn't have to do these and I think most of you are being very negative and unaperciated about the whole thing. If you think you can do better go learn programming and do better.

The turtle won that race. Didn't you ever read the fable?

I totally agree. First of all arent these ELITE missions? Which in the name basically premotes that the lesser of skill player shouldnt make an attempt? The worst part about it is 98% of the people there arent even running the tested builds for success.

However, even though the deep and urgoz were bad this weekend because it was open to all. I have also noticed tombs becoming one of the most frustrating places in tyria. I am sick of idiot rangers who think orders means they get energy, they forget their pets or dont have barrage because they dont even know what BP stands for, headstrong monks who give commands who dont use word of healing then leave when 2 people die, un-experienced MM's trying to run rotting flesh and deathly swarm and countless other nonsense proving unskilled teams.

Know your role and stick to your job and dont act like you know a build when you dont...

I am only doing elites, tombs, fow and UW with guildies/alliance now. Pug skill has depleted.

Well personally I would love to be able to take part in one of the special weekend events. In fact I could feel more anger swelling inside me this morning when I saw the latest offering.

Anet seems to aim these only at the kids who are off school on holiday, and those people that work a nice Monday to Friday job. What about us poor sods that have to work the weekends? Despite having been playing the game for over a year now, I have been unable to participate in hardly any of the special events, because I have to work the weekends and I don't get to come home at all. The few exceptions have been when the events have extended through until early on the Tuesday morning.

In fact I am seriously considering just going to play a different game. It seems obvious to me that Anet are not interested in keeping players like myself, or they would extend more of the special events to cover a greater time span. That would be a shame as I have put in well over 2000 hrs playing time, but it is so very annoying!!

well to me it's a gift because yes, they dont have to give us these qwerks. Heck, they dont even have to give us the other things you guys are wanting. They're all free. I dont think the price of the game included these updates. And even if they did, I still would have to say it's up to them to decide which ones they hand out, and when. Most people would have bought the game even if they knew there would be no updates. I dont think it's our business telling them when and how they should give us updates.

IMO: anything they do after the game is release (excluding fixing bugs) are gifts. Again i say "looking a gift horse in the mouth"

You _can't have_ this alternative, due to the law of demand and supply:

c) common, drops-thirteen-to-a-dozen, items worth a bundle.

...so criticizing ANet for not providing that for you is silly.

Ironically the only weekend that no-one ever really complained about was the pvp extreme weekend, which was also my personal favorite. Not because of the rewards or skill changes, but because I loved running out into battle and watching everyone yell "Extreme!!!". Seriously, it's the spirit of these events that make them fun.. not the content.
